The Cultural Centre Poleeni provides not only versatile own theatre, exhibition and concert offerings but also good-quality guest theatrical performances and concerts. Nature routes of the summer turn to well-maintained ski tracks when the snow comes. Near the town centre, the ski track network is almost hundred kilometres, part of which is illuminated. There is a park skating rink in the Hiekanpää park. In the summer you can swim on the fine sand beach of Hiekanpää. Terrains suitable for snowshoe trekking can be found for example in the ridge landscape of Partaharju. You can skate, play ice hockey and curling at the ice arena OP-Areena. There is also a spacious gym and two sport halls in the swimming hall beside the ice arena.
The highest forest church of the world in Partaharju is an experience throughout the year. In winter couples usually get married there in accordance with the short marriage formula. The Ristikivi church is a popular Christmas church which draws people from all over the country. Celebrate your unforgettable day with an elegant ride in a limousine. Also that is possible in Pieksämäki and also a ride in a museum bus for a bigger group. The bird lean-to Telekkä is situated by the lake Tuomiojärvi. On the shore of this lake which is richest in birds in Southern Savo, it provides from early spring to late autumn a marvellous setting for observing birds.
